ALBUQUERQUE WOMEN CROWNED NATIONAL CHAMPIONS AT
USTA LEAGUE 5.0 ADULTNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Indian Wells, Calif., October 4, 2009 – The women’s team from Albuquerque, N.M. representing USTA Southwest captured the national title at the USTA League 5.0 Adult National Championships held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, Calif.

The Albuquerque team defeated a team from Long Island, N.Y., 2-1 in the Championship match. Earlier in the day, the Albuquerque team defeated a wild card team from Portola Valley, Calif. 2-1 in the semifinals. They advanced by finishing second in their round-robin flight contested Friday, Oct 2 and Saturday, Oct. 3.

The team is captained by Molly McGrath and features Lori Robertson, Alicia Meraz, Rachel Webb and Manola Colter and plays out of Tanoan Country Club. Colter won the deciding match in the finals at the No. 1 singles spot, coming back from 9-6 down in the third-set tiebreaker, winning the last five points of the match to and clinch the victory for Southwest.
