One hundred and eighty five of the premier juniors in the USTA Southwest recently took part in a level 5 section event in Tucson, The El Conquistador Junior Open, held Sept. 19-21 at the Hilton El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort.
Winners at the tournament included Tucson native Carlos Bermudez (who topped brother Dominic in the final) in Boys' 18s, Lorenzo Baca (Albuquerque, N.M.) in Boys' 16s, Michael Tran (Albuquerque, N.M.) in Boys' 14s, Warren Fulgenzi (Las Vegas, N.M.), and Scottsdale's Cameron Krimbill in Boys' 10s.
In girls divisions, Scottsdale's Haley Driver took the Girls' 18s singles crown, Stephanie Hu (Gilbert, Ariz.) wrapped up the Girls' 16s, Kelsey Brown (Tucson) nabbed the Girls' 14's, and Brandelyn Fulgenzi (Las Vegas, N.M.) and Shailla Alda (Phoenix) claimed the Girls 12s and Girls 10 titles, respectively.

It was the second consecutive weekend the Hilton El Conquistador hosted a large-scale event put on by the USTA. The week prior, the resort hosted the USTA Southwest Adult/Senior Mixed League Section Championships.
